About BBC

The Barboursville Baptist Church is in a committed relationship with the West Virginia Baptist Convention and the American Baptist Churches in the USA. But, as an individual church, we stand with hands outstretched to share God’s love with those around us in an effort to lead them into a closer walk with our Savior.

We are young
We have more than 10 children on our nursery roster and another 35-40 in our elementary school ministries. In middle school, we have 7 students, the same as high school.

We are College/Young adults getting started with our lives.
Last year, we graduated 9 students from high school. Most of these are attending Marshall University. But, when combined with other young adults (under the age of 30), we number about 20-25.

We are Young Families
As you can see from the number of children listed above, we are a group of young families who are striving to encourage one another in raising our children according to God’s Word.

We are Men
Striving to love our wives and raise our children according to God’s word, we participate in a food program called SHARE each month. Annually, our men attend a Promise Keepers Conference. Also annually, our Deacons enjoy a spiritual growth retreat.

We are Women
As such, we are committed to the mission of the local Church. We are involved in three different mission circles through our American Baptist Women’s Ministries. We are involved in the local community through many venues (Huntington City Mission, School Volunteers, Doing weekly manicures for a local assisted living center).

Many of our ladies are not involved in a Circle but are doing their own missions. We encourage this individual blessing as well.

We are Senior Adults
Enjoying time together is crucial. The senior adults of the church and community are encouraged to deepen their relationships with one another through monthly gatherings and outings. In between, they minister to one another through telephone calls, visitation, cards, and in many other ways.

We are Singles
In 2006, God revealed the growing needs of a community of singles. Left single at this phase of their lives, the JUSTASK Ministry (Jesus Uniting Singles to Actively Seek souls for the Kingdom) provides fellowship opportunities (lunch after worship most Sundays), spiritual growth opportunities (Sunday School class and weekly Bible study on Tuesdays at 7 pm), and mission opportunities (monthly visits to Huntington City Mission and/or local Assisted Living Centers).
